9/22/10: We are very sad to report that one of the tan/fawn puppies has passed away due to pneumonia and severe anemia. The little runt is struggling, but we are saying prayers. Pardner's new owner, Binky, is overwhelmed with vet bills at this point (including the need for heartworm treatment in the future). Please consider chipping in for their vet care. Punkin too will need heartworm treatment as well...Will post updates as soon as I receive them!
Another happy tail- yeah!!! Bright and early this am, Kevin and I met Dan and his co-pilot Jessie from Forrest City, AR. They were nice enough to bring the "Pibble Family" to West Memphis for a journey that will lead them up to Wisconsin and Michigan! Kevin picked up the crates that wouldn't fit in my car and took them home and I continued on to meet my sister, Kelly, in Missouri.
This Pibble Family has been stuck at the Forrest City Animal Shelter for quite some time. Thankfully, the Forrest City Area Humane Society had this family "signed over" to them so they would be safe until a home was found (you guys are incredible!).
Last week, I received a message on Facebook that mom, pups, and dad did in fact have a place to go! It really is a miracle! Pardner (dad) is going to Michigan and Punkin and pups are going to Wisconsin. Even better news...once the puppies are weaned, mom and dad will be reunited!!! The only problem was figuring out how to get them there....
Well thanks to an amazing group of animal lovers, it has all worked out! The family even gets to fly from St. Louis, MO to Gary, IN thanks to Pilot Mike! He heard that 2 legs of the transport just weren't filling and offered his services! Mike volunteers with the group Pilots N Paws (amazing what this group does for animals in need). THANK YOU SO MUCH MIKE!!!
Please become a fan of Pilots N Paws on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/pilotsnpawsfanpage?ref=ts The flight had to be postponed until tomorrow due to the weather, so volunteer Eric B is housing the family overnight in St. Louis.
It is so wonderful to see how many people care and how everyone works together to save these precious souls. Thanks everyone for your part in this amazing adventure, including (but not limited to): Amanda, Kerin, Linda, Liz, Holly, Sharon, Connie, Binky, Dan, Jessie, Eric, Kelly, Abbie, Alyssa, Denny...who am I missing??? It definitely takes a village! Some pictures from the transport this morning are below:
