WE COULD HAVE BABIES ANY TIME...UPDATE ON ANGEL!

Angel is supposed to go to Nebraska Saturday am BUT there is a good chance she could deliver her babies in the next day or so!!! Her foster mommy, Kathleen, has been updating us thankfully. We will let you know as soon as we hear- say prayers that everything goes smoothly! We are so grateful that Kathleen has experience in whelping (I personally would be a nervous wreck...we got lucky with Jewel and pups because they were already 3 days old when we began fostering them!). Heidi from Camp Bobe will be driving all the way from Omaha to pick her up when she is ready- you are an angel Heidi! She shared the great news that Angel has a wonderful foster home (also with experience) waiting for her!

WHEN WE ALL WORK TOGETHER, WE CAN WORK MIRACLES!!! STAY TUNED!

DRAKE AND SISSY LOOKING FOR HOMES!!!

Check out Drake and Sissy in their foster home (ok...at our house- lol). PLEASE ignore the yard- one or more of the doggies got into some type of trash and decided it would be fun to litter the yard with it. Thank goodness the video was taken before tonight because a phone book was shredded this time!

Please share this post as these two cuties are looking for their forever homes! Technically they can go to our friend's no kill shelter in Wisconsin, however everyone would prefer they find homes and/or foster homes first if at all possible. These are 2 very special doggies and we want the best for both of them of course. Neither of them has had ANY accidents in their big pens at all (they learned the routine very quickly and have ample space to "go" if they had to, but they have been fantastic!).

ANGEL MADE IT TO ST. LOUIS ALREADY!!!

Oh sweet Angel...you have no idea how many doggy angels have worked on your behalf. I received a call from Steve S. who runs a rescue in St. Louis (Great Danes) 2 days ago. Steve found a foster for Angel...YAY!!!! Angel would get to stay with doggy angel, Kathleen, until she leaves for Nebraska. I was elated to say the least. Now to figure out a way to get her to St. Louis BEFORE she has her babies. Well...I received a call from Angie this morning saying that my friend, Joanna G., in St. Louis offered to meet her halfway to St. Louis TODAY!

Angel arrived safely in St. Louis. This poor girl has been through so much and we are just so blessed to have so many people that care. We will definitely post some more pictures and updates as soon as we receive them, but here are a few pictures from Angel's trip (thanks for sharing them Angie and Joanna)!

This picture taken by Angie just warms my heart. This was taken last night- Angel's last evening with Angie. Angel LOVES to be outside and is used to living outside so Angie was so sweet to play her sound machine with crickets chirping so that she would feel more "at home".

Packed up and ready to go....bittersweet for all involved. What a beauty!

Angel meeting Joanna for the first time!

LOVE THIS- Angel with her 2 angels, Angie and Joanna.

THANK YOU ANGIE for your tireless effort to find a place for Angel. Thank you for taking her in for a few days, helping her settle in to her first foster home, and for taking the time to transport her as well.

THANK YOU MICHELLE for allowing Angel to bunk at your house and providing such love and support when she needed it most.

THANK YOU JOANNA for posting Angel's picture and story on FB and helping to find her a foster home. Thanks for meeting Angie :)

THANK YOU STEVE and KATHLEEN for ultimately "stepping up" to help foster this girl so she can finally settle down before leaving to Nebraska

THANK YOU HEATHER, GENE, and the rest of the CAMP BOBE angels who are giving Angel the life she deserves! You guys are the reason she is off the streets for good- we love you for taking her in when no one else offered!

Here are a couple of pictures of Angel at her foster home in St. Louis!

WE LOVE YOU ANGEL and cannot wait to see how the rest of this amazing story unfolds!

OH YES, THE LAKESHORE DOGGIES ARE ON THE MEND!!!!

We thought people might like to see pictures of some of the Lakeshore Trailer Park Doggies

Oh precious Angel! This girl is not only gorgeous, but super sweet as well. She is ready to give birth at any time. We are in the process of finalizing Angel's rescue plan. She is ultimately going to Omaha, Nebraska to stay at Camp Bobe
http://www.campbobe.org/ thanks to Heather!

Heather is planning on driving to St. Louis on Oct 29th to pick her up!!! Angel's foster home had an emergency, so this sweetie is currently staying with her rescue angel, Angie, until we can arrange travel for her to St Louis (hopefully this weekend BEFORE she has her babies). We will definitely keep you posted! If anyone is going to St. Louis this weekend, please contact Allie at 901-240-9848 or email allieot98@yahoo.com.

Angel
is helping Angie work on finding her transportation to St. Louis- what a good helper!

Another life saved thanks to doggy angels!!!

Sissy (Shep mix) is doing FANTASTIC! It is a miracle that this girl survived parvo. This has to be one of the sweetest girls you will ever meet. She and her brother are 6 months old (canine teeth have just come in). Sissy absolutely LOVES people. She is content to just hang out on your lap, however, she also likes to play too of course! She is hoping to find a forever home and will be headed to rescue (no-kill shelter) in Wisconsin on November 2nd (unless of course she finds her "family" first!).

Sweetness...

Precious Sissy...
we are so grateful we could save her!

Just look at her gorgeous face!

One of my favorite pictures :)

Check out pictures of Sissy's brother, Drake (black lab mix). Drake is quite the character. He too likes to hang out with people, but ADORES playing with toys too (he can be a bit of a toy hog with his sis- lol). Drake is still being treated for demodectic mange (non-contagious mange), but is already looking great! He too will go to "rescue" in Wisconsin in a couple weeks, but we wish he could find a home first (we know how hard it can be to find homes for black doggies...).

Here is a picture of Drake hanging out with his "daddy".

This will be a very handsome "man" one day!

This is Lucy (Drake and Sissy's mom) on her way to Joyway Rescue Kennels in Sardis, TN. HUGE thanks to Kathy and Tammy for giving her a chance!!! Lucy has been a complete angel according to Kathy! Thank you Angie and Nadia for participating in her transport as well! There is nothing worse than babies getting rescued and leaving the mommy so YIPPPEEEEE for Lucy!!!!

Gidget and Hoppie are also extremely lucky to have Kathy and Tammy in their lives. They are working on more pictures, but you can see that Gidget has made herself "at home". Kathy reports that she is a bed hog and loves to play with anyone and everyone!

Check out Destiny after 1 month!!! It is amazing what simple medication and some TLC can do! She still needs more time but is already gorgeous! We cannot wait to see what she looks like in another month! Thank you Sharon for taking her in and getting her ready for adoption :)

PLEASE HELP US HELP MORE OF THESE BABIES! We have set up a new Chip In as the last one expired.

THANK YOU TO ALL THE DOGGY ANGELS THAT CONTRIBUTED FUNDS, MADE PHONE CALLS, EMAILED, AND/OR SHARED THEIR STORIES ON FACEBOOK AND ELSEWHERE. WE ARE TOUCHED BY EVERYONE'S KINDNESS AND GENEROSITY!

THE SILVER LINING...3 MORE TO BE RESCUED ON WED!

Although we received devastating news about 3 of the Lakeshore Doggies, there is a silver lining...3 more will be going to "rescue" this week! Thanks to Joyway Kennels in TN (Kathy and Tammy), these 3 (Gidget, Hoppie, and Lucy) will FINALLY get the life they deserve! All 3 will be spayed/neutered on Thursday thanks to Patricia B in AR for her generous donation. We would also like to thank Angie H in AR for all the time and effort spent to get these babies the homes they deserve. NETWORKING DOES HELP! We are also working on Angel (broken front leg and pregnant...) as well as at least 5 other doggies that need help so stay tuned!

Who wouldn't love this face! This is Gidget!

Gidget is one cool looking doggy (and super sweet to boot!)

This is Hoppie!

This little guy is lucky to have someone to feed him but he deserves so much more!

Gidget hanging out with Lucy! Lucy is the mommy of Drake and Sissy!

This is the sweetest girl!

Thank you again Joyway Kennels for taking her!

TRAGIC NEWS FROM LAKESHORE...

We are just devasted by the news today that 3 of the Lakeshore Doggies have gone to Rainbow Bridge. My sis Kelly and I drove to Lakeshore to see how everyone was doing. We did not see the usual doggies out and about. Later on I received a call from a girl that lives there. She proceeded to inform me that her sweet doggy, Sally, was apparently run over by a car yesterday. She had wandered off and the gal went looking all over for her. Someone had hit her and left her...Sally was on the list to be spayed next week and her owner had asked for us to find her a home. RIP Regal Sally...

The face of an angel

My favorite photo of Sally- what a precious girl

Then there was this gorgeous gal. Bred to sell the puppies we are pretty sure. The "owner" would not let us rehome her. Pocket Pittie is what we called her because we did not know her name. She was found dead in someone's yard yesterday....possibly a victim of poisoning. This precious soul had 1 remaining puppy that she was still nursing. Senseless death. So sorry we could not help you.

So sorry we failed you too...

And finally, this is "Mama Dog" as we called her. This sad girl had puppies and her last puppy was "given away" the day I took these photos. A neighbor today told Kelly and me that the kids in the neighborhood would torment her and throw rocks at her. Her "owner" would not let us rehome her and now she is dead. Mama Dog apparently finally had enough and bit a child in the ankle so Animal Control was called. RIP...

At least now she can run free and be happy.

We are not posting this to make people feel bad. We desperately want to help the abandoned doggies of Lakeshore, however people need to realize the urgency of this situation. None of the babies are safe until they are physically removed from this area. Without funding AND foster homes/rescues, we cannot improve this situation so please share.

DRAKE AND SISSY IN THEIR TEMPORARY "DIGS"

Here are 2 short videos of Drake and Sissy enjoying a little FREEDOM after a week in the vet clinics!

A tribute to Angie

UPDATE ON THE FUNDS....

Thus far, we have spent just over $1000 so far in medical bills for just a few of the Lakeshore doggies. Sissy's bill was nearly $600. God was looking out for Sissy because she certainly would have died had Angie, Sharon, and I not gone back to Lakeshore on 9/20/11. This was the first time that these ladies had met the "Lakeshore Doggies" and I could tell right away that Sissy was just not acting like her jovial self. Angel Angie offered to take her to her vet in Jonesboro, AR to have her looked at by her vet.

Well....it turns out that Sissy had parvo. Devastating news as you can imagine. However, we were optimistic that we caught it early since I had just seen her 2 days previously and she was very happy and playful. Sissy began IV fluids immediately along with all the medications used to treat parvo. We were told she would require IV fluids for anywhere from 2 to 7 days at a cost of...well it could be a lot. Angel Angie visited her every single day to help keep her spirits up. It was definitely touch and go for quite a while. Sissy ultimately required 7 days of IV fluids but we are happy to report that she is doing FANTASTIC! We did not use Chip In money for her. Angie and her husband, John, agreed to split the cost of Sissy's bill from the beginning (absolutely wonderful people). We wanted to leave funds for others in need. Sadly...that did not take long.

Then there's Drake... Sharon was nice enough to take him home along with Destiny and a litter of 3 puppies. Drake is Sissy's brother. We had a feeling that Drake may come down with the dreaded parvo. 2 days after Sissy went to the vet, Sharon called me to tell me Drake was not feeling well. He was not eating... My stomach sank. Thankfully, my husband was off that Thursday so he drove 1 1/2 hours (one way) to pick up Drake and take him to Memphis to the vet. Drake was lethargic when he arrived, so we told the vet to treat Drake as if he were one of our foster doggies (which means..do whatever is necessary to help the little guy). How could we treat one sibling and not the other??? Well....God was looking after Drake as well. It turns out that Drake only needed 24 hours of IV fluids and medications of course. Dr. G said that he was so loaded with hookworms and roundworms (and likely tapeworms). A skin scape confirmed that he has demodectic mange (non-contagious) and an ear infection, so he will be treated for both. Drake's bill was just under $300 (including special canned food for his tummy and boarding costs). The Chip In was used to pay for Drake's bill so much gratitude for those who donated.

This is a picture of Drake a few days after being in the vet's office. He was a total sweetheart.

This is the sad face I had to look at as I was leaving...broke my heart to leave him there (no fosters AGAIN).

Now for Destiny (aka "mange girl"). Sharon fell in love with this sweetheart as did I. She was the first doggy that stood out when I drove around the trailer park. This precious girl is so friendly and sweet. It's a crying shame that people are the way they are (some of them anyway). We actually had a man drive up in his pickup truck while we were there and said "That one right there should be shot...she got the mange". Another neighbor shared his wisdom (NOT) that all she needed was motor oil poured on her. Destiny was immediately put on antibiotics and ivermectin to treat the mange. Her bill so far is around $75, paid for by the Chip In. Again...those of you who donated have helped yet another precious life.

Destiny sleeping at the trailer park

Poor baby had a secondary infection with open sores all over her body. No protection from the sun mind you as she is homeless.

Finally there is Sally. This absolutely adorable gal had 3 remaining puppies from a litter. Sally has a nice owner, but her owner just cannot afford to have her spayed. Actually, she wants her to have a better life. Sally is only about 2 she said. This poor girl will be pregnant again in no time if she doesn't get spayed. We told the woman why were in the trailer park and asked if she knew any puppies or doggies in need. She proceeded to show us 3 little puppies who were just precious and told us she would love help finding them homes. Sharon immediately put them in her crate as they were completely infested with fleas.

Angie meeting regal Sally (that's how she describes her).

Look at how adorable she is!

Sally's 3 puppies: Sharon named them Larry, Moreen, and Curly! One of the 3 started feeling "not so great" within the last couple of days (diarrhea, etc.) so she separated him from the other 2. Sharon suspected ringworm as well. She took them to the vet today and it turns out that the sick puppy has parvo as well. The vet in MS gave him subcutaneous fluids and prescribed Tamiflu at our request so Sharon is going to treat the sick little guy as well as the other 2 (just in case). The bill was $115 for the Tamiflu and almost $90 for the vet visit (fecal, parvo test, etc.). Please pray for these babies....

As you can see...the Chip In funds are gone. Please continue to share the Chip In so we can help finish the vetting on these cuties and help the other doggies left behind.
