ANGEL UPDATE

On November 29th, our sweet Angel began heartworm treatment. Word is she was a complete sweetheart (but of course...you couldn't ask for a sweeter girl). After she recovers from heartworm treatment, Angel will get spayed and undergo surgery for her amputation (front leg and shoulder). She can use some prayers from everyone. Here is Kelly's update:

Angel...she had her heartworm treatment this week and did fantastic! She was an awesome patient at the vet and all of the techs fell in love with her. Aunt Kim Zegarski gave her a bath and a mani/pedi before she left and Aunt Jessica Wollberg gave her extra love and kisses. Angel is still looking for her soft canned food that Auntie Jess spoiled her with but otherwise is happy to be home. She is laying around the house and enjoying hugs and kisses...

Angel stopped by Auntie Joanna's work to say before her heartworm treatment!

A pic of Angel during her stay at the vet clinic!

Angel with Jessica at the vet clinic- she was very spoiled there according to Kelly!

What about Angel's babies? Well, that situation has been very sad. Kelly notified us that one of the puppies passed last week (I believe the runt). The babies were being bottle fed because Angel had some issues with her milk and was "done" with nursing them so Kelly and her family have had their work cut out for them. Well, last night I received a call from Kelly with more bad news. Apparently the baby that passed away had hydrocephalus (fluid on the brain) as this was confirmed by necropsy. Now, 4 more babies have presented with the same symptoms and 1 of the 4 has just passed yesterday (RIP babies). Here is the latest update from Kelly:

Update on Angel's babies....After a very long day and night, we have lost another baby of Angel's. We are on our way to losing two more as I type this. This afternoon we were at the vet's office and he diagnosed dying baby two with hydrocephalus. Baby number 3 is definitely neurologic and his head is very bloated. ...Baby number four is very anemic and getting neurologic. We are at that age when this can happen and we just need to do everything we can to keep them comfy and hopefully they can overcome this. With Angel's bad nutrition during her pregnancy, I am concerned as to how much immune system they actually have and how much fight they actually have.

PLEASE say a prayer for the other babies. Kelly feels encouraged about the 4 that do not have any symptoms. We will update you as soon as we hear anything. Thank you so much Kelly for trying so hard and doing everything you can for them! I appreciate the updates!

ANGEL'S JOURNEY CONTINUES...WELCOME PUPPIES!

The picture above was taken at Angel's first foster home in St. Louis (Kathleen's house). She settled in fairly quickly and had her puppies on October 29th! This was the day Angel was scheduled to go to Nebraska (that rescue fell through as many of you may know). Check out some pics from the day these precious fur-souls were born!

Kevin and I were able to visit Angel and her puppies at their temporary foster home with Pamela this past Sunday while we were in St. Louis! Oh how I miss this sweet girl. All the puppies seem to be doing well so far, but there is some concern about Angel's milk production. Angel and pups were moved to Kelly's house Sunday evening (Mostly Mutts Director) so that she can keep an eye on Angel and provide supplemental feeding if necessary (Kelly has extensive experience with mommies and puppies).

Kelly is going to take Angel to see the ortho specialist about her leg. She has already seen one vet already. It turns out that Angel's scapula is pushing on her spine (waiting for xrays still). She does not have any feeling in her foot and most of the way up toward her should. Future plans include amputation of not only her leg, but part of her shoulder/scapula as well. More bad news...Angel is heartworm positive (we figured she would be though). The vet feels she should be treated for heartworms first (after puppies are weaned of course) and then work on the leg/shoulder amputation later. She will need some more doggy angels to help with this so we hope to have a Chip In up and running very soon!

Check out some pictures of Angel and her 9 puppies below (puppies are 1 week and 1 day old):

Check out the cute little black one upside down- lol!

Love the one on top!

1 special white one :)

Gotta get comfy wherever you are!

Nothing cuter than a puppy pile!

I may be wrong, but I believe this is the runt!

Dinner time!

Such a good mommy!

WE COULD HAVE BABIES ANY TIME...UPDATE ON ANGEL!

Angel is supposed to go to Nebraska Saturday am BUT there is a good chance she could deliver her babies in the next day or so!!! Her foster mommy, Kathleen, has been updating us thankfully. We will let you know as soon as we hear- say prayers that everything goes smoothly! We are so grateful that Kathleen has experience in whelping (I personally would be a nervous wreck...we got lucky with Jewel and pups because they were already 3 days old when we began fostering them!). Heidi from Camp Bobe will be driving all the way from Omaha to pick her up when she is ready- you are an angel Heidi! She shared the great news that Angel has a wonderful foster home (also with experience) waiting for her!

WHEN WE ALL WORK TOGETHER, WE CAN WORK MIRACLES!!! STAY TUNED!

DRAKE AND SISSY LOOKING FOR HOMES!!!

Check out Drake and Sissy in their foster home (ok...at our house- lol). PLEASE ignore the yard- one or more of the doggies got into some type of trash and decided it would be fun to litter the yard with it. Thank goodness the video was taken before tonight because a phone book was shredded this time!

Please share this post as these two cuties are looking for their forever homes! Technically they can go to our friend's no kill shelter in Wisconsin, however everyone would prefer they find homes and/or foster homes first if at all possible. These are 2 very special doggies and we want the best for both of them of course. Neither of them has had ANY accidents in their big pens at all (they learned the routine very quickly and have ample space to "go" if they had to, but they have been fantastic!).

ANGEL MADE IT TO ST. LOUIS ALREADY!!!

Oh sweet Angel...you have no idea how many doggy angels have worked on your behalf. I received a call from Steve S. who runs a rescue in St. Louis (Great Danes) 2 days ago. Steve found a foster for Angel...YAY!!!! Angel would get to stay with doggy angel, Kathleen, until she leaves for Nebraska. I was elated to say the least. Now to figure out a way to get her to St. Louis BEFORE she has her babies. Well...I received a call from Angie this morning saying that my friend, Joanna G., in St. Louis offered to meet her halfway to St. Louis TODAY!

Angel arrived safely in St. Louis. This poor girl has been through so much and we are just so blessed to have so many people that care. We will definitely post some more pictures and updates as soon as we receive them, but here are a few pictures from Angel's trip (thanks for sharing them Angie and Joanna)!

This picture taken by Angie just warms my heart. This was taken last night- Angel's last evening with Angie. Angel LOVES to be outside and is used to living outside so Angie was so sweet to play her sound machine with crickets chirping so that she would feel more "at home".

Packed up and ready to go....bittersweet for all involved. What a beauty!

Angel meeting Joanna for the first time!

LOVE THIS- Angel with her 2 angels, Angie and Joanna.

THANK YOU ANGIE for your tireless effort to find a place for Angel. Thank you for taking her in for a few days, helping her settle in to her first foster home, and for taking the time to transport her as well.

THANK YOU MICHELLE for allowing Angel to bunk at your house and providing such love and support when she needed it most.

THANK YOU JOANNA for posting Angel's picture and story on FB and helping to find her a foster home. Thanks for meeting Angie :)

THANK YOU STEVE and KATHLEEN for ultimately "stepping up" to help foster this girl so she can finally settle down before leaving to Nebraska

THANK YOU HEATHER, GENE, and the rest of the CAMP BOBE angels who are giving Angel the life she deserves! You guys are the reason she is off the streets for good- we love you for taking her in when no one else offered!

Here are a couple of pictures of Angel at her foster home in St. Louis!

WE LOVE YOU ANGEL and cannot wait to see how the rest of this amazing story unfolds!

OH YES, THE LAKESHORE DOGGIES ARE ON THE MEND!!!!

We thought people might like to see pictures of some of the Lakeshore Trailer Park Doggies

Oh precious Angel! This girl is not only gorgeous, but super sweet as well. She is ready to give birth at any time. We are in the process of finalizing Angel's rescue plan. She is ultimately going to Omaha, Nebraska to stay at Camp Bobe
http://www.campbobe.org/ thanks to Heather!

Heather is planning on driving to St. Louis on Oct 29th to pick her up!!! Angel's foster home had an emergency, so this sweetie is currently staying with her rescue angel, Angie, until we can arrange travel for her to St Louis (hopefully this weekend BEFORE she has her babies). We will definitely keep you posted! If anyone is going to St. Louis this weekend, please contact Allie at 901-240-9848 or email allieot98@yahoo.com.

Angel
is helping Angie work on finding her transportation to St. Louis- what a good helper!

Another life saved thanks to doggy angels!!!

Sissy (Shep mix) is doing FANTASTIC! It is a miracle that this girl survived parvo. This has to be one of the sweetest girls you will ever meet. She and her brother are 6 months old (canine teeth have just come in). Sissy absolutely LOVES people. She is content to just hang out on your lap, however, she also likes to play too of course! She is hoping to find a forever home and will be headed to rescue (no-kill shelter) in Wisconsin on November 2nd (unless of course she finds her "family" first!).

Sweetness...

Precious Sissy...
we are so grateful we could save her!

Just look at her gorgeous face!

One of my favorite pictures :)

Check out pictures of Sissy's brother, Drake (black lab mix). Drake is quite the character. He too likes to hang out with people, but ADORES playing with toys too (he can be a bit of a toy hog with his sis- lol). Drake is still being treated for demodectic mange (non-contagious mange), but is already looking great! He too will go to "rescue" in Wisconsin in a couple weeks, but we wish he could find a home first (we know how hard it can be to find homes for black doggies...).

Here is a picture of Drake hanging out with his "daddy".

This will be a very handsome "man" one day!

This is Lucy (Drake and Sissy's mom) on her way to Joyway Rescue Kennels in Sardis, TN. HUGE thanks to Kathy and Tammy for giving her a chance!!! Lucy has been a complete angel according to Kathy! Thank you Angie and Nadia for participating in her transport as well! There is nothing worse than babies getting rescued and leaving the mommy so YIPPPEEEEE for Lucy!!!!

Gidget and Hoppie are also extremely lucky to have Kathy and Tammy in their lives. They are working on more pictures, but you can see that Gidget has made herself "at home". Kathy reports that she is a bed hog and loves to play with anyone and everyone!

Check out Destiny after 1 month!!! It is amazing what simple medication and some TLC can do! She still needs more time but is already gorgeous! We cannot wait to see what she looks like in another month! Thank you Sharon for taking her in and getting her ready for adoption :)

PLEASE HELP US HELP MORE OF THESE BABIES! We have set up a new Chip In as the last one expired.

THANK YOU TO ALL THE DOGGY ANGELS THAT CONTRIBUTED FUNDS, MADE PHONE CALLS, EMAILED, AND/OR SHARED THEIR STORIES ON FACEBOOK AND ELSEWHERE. WE ARE TOUCHED BY EVERYONE'S KINDNESS AND GENEROSITY!
