JEWEL'S PUPS GO TO THE VET...

Jewel's precious little puppies took a ride to the vet for their first shots today! I cannot express how adorable these puppies are! They were soooo good...not one of them cried during their shots either (made me feel better anyway). As expected, Sterling (the runt mind you) weighed in the heaviest at 7.5 pounds, followed by Copper at 7.0 pounds. Amber, Malachite, and Jade all weighed 6.5 pounds. They are healthy and happy...all they need is a home for the holidays! Please share their pictures with family/friends who might be looking to add a new family member!

Here they are waiting in the lobby for their turn! Click on each picture for an enlarged view!

It was much easier to bring the laundry baskets since we are only 2 minutes from the vet

If you look closely, Malachite has his arm around Jade comforting her....so sweet (and no we didn't position them that way)

Poor little ones weren't sure what we were doing

Just precious: Amber, Malachite, and Jade hiding in the back

How adorable are these boys: Copper and Sterling

Daddy giving Malachite some smooches while we wait

Sterling and Copper getting a little impatient
Malachite staying busy while he waits to see the vet

Jade and Malachite on the way to the vet

Handsome hunk, Sterling

Shy but beautiful Jade (once she gets to know you, her personality shines)

Sweet and beautiful Amber
Gorgeous Copper-he's up for the adventure!

UPDATE ON JEWEL AND PUPS!

****11/20/10: It turns out that our rescue angels in WI won't be able to help right now, so these babies and mom of course are all looking for wonderful homes****

Well here are Jewel's precious puppies at 5 weeks and 3 days old! From left to right: Copper, Jade, Sterling, Amber, and Malachite (we thought it was fitting since mommy is "Jewel" to name them after gemstones/minerals/precious stones- great idea Kelly!).

The great news is our rescue partner in Wisconsin will be taking this family in December (don't worry, the puppies will be at least 8 weeks old before they are adopted). WE LOVE YOU GUYS! I also want to thank Amy V in KY so very much for being so understanding when I told her I would like to keep these guys/girls in order to help open a spot for her to take more pups in need- what a trooper! She is the rescue angel that offered to take Jewel and her puppies in. Another big thank you to Jeff S for his offer to fly this family to Amy. We hope to hear happy tails for some other pups in need soon!
These little guys/gals have been such a joy to help raise. They are all very sweet and snuggly! Jewel has been slowly weaning them and they are now eating softened puppy chow 3 times a day (oh what a clean up with 5 of them- ha!). Check out these current pictures!

Daddy taking some time to play with the pups!
They are hoping I have some yummies!

Who wouldn't want to snuggle with them?!

Super sweet Malachite snuggling with daddy. Malachite is more reserved like his mommy (and looks the most like her!). I can't wait to see if his ears stand erect later on!

This picture in particular makes him look like his mommy- he has the same smile!

See what I mean about her smile!

How adorable is Malachite...seriously!

And then there is Jade...oh what a doll!

Jade will hang back at times, but she definitely knows what is going on! She is the observant one!

Copper is on the left and Jade on the right!

Copper has the most gorgeous markings . He is very friendly and playful (likes to bat at you with his paws). Another precious fur-soul!

This is Amber! She is so adorable. It doesn't matter what is going on around her, she is always right at my feet or crawling up on me. She is very curious about humans and will probably be one of those fur-kids that loves to be with right there with you.

She is waiting for some action- apparently I am pretty boring.

And then there is gorgeous Sterling. OMG...he is the most adorable chunky little furbaby! It is really hard to believe that this was the runt! I see why he "caught up" now...he was always eating when the others had stopped!

Sterling has the most gorgeous silver coat with tan/gold tones (will probably turn more tan/gold as he grows). His hair is longer than the others too.

Sterling is perfectly content to just hang out!

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL RESCUE MISSION!

At the wee hours of the morning this past Sunday (3:30 am to be exact), 6 fur-babies headed North to start their journey to "rescue" (1 got off in St. Louis; 1 picked up in St. Louis; and the rest headed on to Wisconsin). My wonderful sister Kelly drove all the way from St. Louis to pick these guys/girls up so that I wouldn't have to meet her so early (how great is that!). Thank you...WE OWE YOU KELLY!!! Another doggy angel, Linda, actually drove all the way from Wisconsin (over 8 hours) to save these babies- you are awesome Linda (WE LOVE YOU- THANK YOU!).

Muffin (on the right of the picture below) was one of the lucky fur-babies who got to "bunk" at Auntie Allie's and Uncle Kevin's for the night. Since my sis was leaving at 3:30 in the am, we had a sleepover! Muffin felt that she should be part of the family and wasn't having any part of the crate- lol. Normally, I would not let her "win" with her whining, but it was very very early in the am and I didn't want to wake up our 2-legged guest!
Kelly couldn't help by give Muffin a taste of her pizza crust (which she LOVED of course).
2 more precious little Shih Tzus, Frankie and Junior, spent the night Friday and Saturday and were on their best behavior. Junior went to a new foster home in St. Louis (thank you Jen and Alex!) and Frankie continued on to Wisconsin! Junior is still available for adoption :) As you can see, we had to send their beloved tennis balls (these boys are obsessed with them!). These were the Shih Tzus that were abandoned in an apartment several months ago.
Frankie's picture from a few months ago.
Junior's picture with Kelly after his haircut several months ago.
Rascal was picked up in St. Louis! He has an adoption pending already!

Our sweet foster gal, Olivia, is on her way to a new life in Wisconsin too! We really enjoyed fostering this cutie pie, but have to admit that puppies are tough after a while! She will make a great family dog!
She is one smart little girl!

Georgie is the little guy that came from the Forrest City Animal Shelter where his doggy angel, Donna, saved his life just in the nick of time by "pulling" him from the shelter and paying his boarding until his rescue and transport could be arranged. Thanks to the Forrest City Area Humane Society members for helping to get him to safety too!
Izzie is another lucky pup from Forrest City, AR. She was fostered by my friend Julie in Memphis (thank you again- tell Glenn and the kiddos thanks too!). She is the sweetest little thing and will find a great home up north...the home that she always deserved!

SHORT-TERM FOSTER PUPS LOVING LIFE!

Almost 2 weeks ago, my husband found this precious little puppy in the middle of a busy street in Memphis (in a not-so-good part of town). It's hard to believe that this precious girl was wandering around in a very dangerous world. Sadly, there are too many of these stories to count. Olivia is now her name and thanks to my hubby, she is safe and happy. Olivia is now almost 17 pounds and has been spayed recently. She is one of the lucky ones...she will go to our wonderful rescue partner in Wisconsin this Sunday!

Another picture of Olivia, shortly after being picked up on the streets of Memphis!

This is Olivia today :)

She still loves her temporary "daddy"!

Kevin trying to settle this little one down- she gets soooo excited!

Never-ending kisses for Kevin!
This is one smart little girl- she watches everything!
Trying to get Big 'Ol Bella to play- she loves Bella!

Such a pretty girl!
Another lucky pup...Georgie!
This is Georgie Boy! Georgie was brought in to a fairly high kill shelter in Arkansas (Forrest City, AR) as a "stray". Thanks to the miracle of networking (Facebook really), Georgie found his doggy angel, Donna. Donna paid to have this precious boy "pulled" from the shelter and into safety. Of course there were no foster homes available so Georgie had to spend some time in boarding at a vet clinic. Definitely not ideal, but it saved his life (well Donna saved his life- thank you so much Donna!). You see, people can help in all sorts of ways- Donna helps by posting pictures on Facebook of dogs in need and her group raises money (among other things) to help "pull" dogs from death row- amazing!
Anyway, thanks to our rescue angels in Wisconsin, Georgie will have a new lease on life this Sunday. I met Forrest City Area Humane Society members Denny and Jessie to pick up this little guy on Monday night so he could be neutered before he left (a must as we rescuers know). He has only been here a few days, but he is such a joy to have. George is quite the ham! He is such a good boy and absolutely adores other dogs. Someone will be lucky to make this guy a family member!
Kevin was trying to watch his Steelers game- sorry babe, but we need photos of this sweetie!

He seems to "know" that he has been saved!

You can tell that Georgie just loves life!
My sweet Bella puts up with a lot- actually, they make Bella feel spunky again!
Lula isn't quite so sure though- lol.
Lula is still deciding whether she likes her new house guest!
He really is adorable (and has a great personality to boot!)
We have no idea what he is, but we are thankful that he is alive :)
We could seriously save so many more lives if people would just foster a needy pup for a short time. Please think about it and call me at 901-240-9848 or email allieot98@yahoo.com if you'd like to help!
