Ok I finally have gotten around to getting an update on Pardner and Punkin (the 2 pibbles that we helped transport a few weeks ago). Pardner and Punkin are both heartworm positive and Punkin still needs to be spayed.
We are hoping people can contribute even a small amount to help their new owner, Binky, with their medical needs (after all, if it weren't for Binky, neither would have made it out of the shelter). Below is the info I received from Binky:
"Here is a detail of Pardner's treatment plan from the Vet... we have a long road...and Punkin's will be similar she is a medium blue on the test and has the micro in her blood as well..she also has hook worms and we are testing Pardner for it as it may be the cause of his anemia. I am getting Punkin next Tuesday and will continue her treatment as outlined below as well. Punkin will still need to be spayed once her heart worm treatment is complete.
1. Heartgard started last week {Ivermectin} along with Clavamax... and Rimadyl for Neuter site
2. On Sept 29 sutures removed and Doxycycline started Oct 1 for 30 days recheck HCT (PCV) Red blood count for anemia.
3. Nov 1 Doxycycline ends..Blood drawn
4. Nov 14th Prednisone begins for lungs- steroid and re-eval possible opening of neuter site for exploratory
5. Dec. 1 Immiticide injection #1 STRICT NO ACTIVITY
6. Jan. 1 Immiticide injections 2&3 24 hours apart with hospital stay STRICT NO ACTIVITY
7. Feb. 1 Actvity restriction over Prednisone ends "

Punkin is being fostered by a friend until she finishes heartworm treatment and is spayed and then these two will be reunited!

THANKS EVERYONE FOR SHARING AND DONATING!!!! However, Binky is still a long way from paying for their medical treatment. Please consider donating just a few dollars because as we all know...every little bit counts!
